WORD AWARE VOCABULARY
Word Aware is a structured whole school approach to promote the vocabulary development of all children. Each week all children will take part in learning a new word. They will learn actions to it and rhymes to remember. Ask your child each week what their Word Aware word is that week. We practise the word in context throughout the week to embed its meaning. Each half term you will receive a Vocabulary list, they will include:
Tier 1 words
These are words that the children will already know and use in every day life.
Tier 2 words
These are words that we will teach the children. They might not have come across before.
Tier 3 words
These are challenge words which we will teach the children. Children might come across these words but not necessarily remember them. They may include subject specific words or science terms, for example.
