HUNTER'S BAR INFANT SCHOOL

Seesaw Learning Platform

Seesaw is a secure digital platform that allows pupils, teachers, and parents/ guardians to create and share their learning and experiences.

At school, your child’s teachers can upload photographs, videos, notes, links to websites, and other documents to Seesaw to share with you. This could be to show you the work your child has done or to set work and share important information. Seesaw posts to your child’s Seesaw journal are password protected. You and your child will also be able to log in and upload a variety of documents to their Seesaw account, via their Journal page or by completing an Activity, from home.

Only you, your child and school staff will be able to view the posts on their Journal, unless they have been shared to the class blog – in this case, other children and parents will also be able to view the post.

You will receive a log in sheet when your child starts at Hunter’s Bar Infant School, or can request one from school via the year group e-mail addresses at any time.

There are two different ways to access Seesaw both as a parent and as a child, either using a laptop/ desktop computer, or through a phone or tablet by downloading the Seesaw app. Seesaw can be accessed by parents or by children, and each option looks rather different.

Seesaw for Children

Children can access Seesaw using computers or tablets. Children can go to the Seesaw website or Seesaw Learning app and select the option to log in as a student. Here they can enter the 12 letter code or scan the QR code, both included on their log in sheet. The children can then use Seesaw to share and upload work, photos, videos and notes, and access Seesaw Activities.

Children can click on the green + sign to add a post to their Journal or can “Add a response” to a Seesaw Activity – this will give them choices to take live photos or videos, to upload photos and videos from their device, use a range of text and drawing tools, and add audio recordings to a post. When children upload to their journal, only the child, the class teacher and the child’s family members using Seesaw can access the journal. No other pupils can see your child’s journal. Any comments made on the journal by your child or family members will need to be approved by the class teacher before they are published.

Parents can log in to their child’s Seesaw account and access the Seesaw Activities tab to help their child add responses to activities such as:  Show & Tell, Happy & Proud posts, update any extra curricular achievements gained in sports and clubs outside of school, Extreme Reading photographs, Book Recommendations posts and much much more.

Seesaw for Parents/Carers

Family members can also access Seesaw using computers or tablets. There are no longer two apps, instead all users will use the same Seesaw Learning app and it is now easier to switch between accounts – you will need to be able to log in as a student in order to upload posts, for example.

You can request access by sending a message to the year group emails, including the email address you wish to be linked, or by following the invitation post on your child’s Seesaw account. You will then be able to view your child’s Seesaw account and their class blog, like post and add comments underneath posts. You will also be able to receive messages from your child’s teachers. Most of these messages will be information only, but some may allow written responses.

You will find various ‘How to’ guides in your Year Group Google Drive and/or uploaded to Seesaw accounts – search the Communication: Teacher-Parent folder for quicker access. There are also many tutorial videos uploaded to YouTube from the Seesaw creators. The link can be found below.

Here are some of the key features you will see when you log into your child’s Seesaw account using their Student log in sheet.

More information and guides can be found in the Year Group Google Drives.
