Reading Challenge
We celebrate reading at home and in school. Children receive a Reading Challenge certificate once they have completed their Reading Challenge card.
Children, and their parents, complete a Reading Diary to record the books they have been reading at home. Up to ONE read per day can be added to the diary. Teaching staff will also add one entry a week to your child’s diary too.
In Reception and year 1 every 5 reads done children gain a stamp on their challenge card. This rises to 8 reads per stamp in year 2. Once their card is complete they will receive a certificate in our assembly.
In Reception children need to complete 8 stamps, or 40 reads, to achieve their Reading Challenge award.
In Year 1 children need to complete 12 stamps, or 60 reads, to achieve their Reading Challenge award.
In Year 2 children need to complete 12 stamps, or 96 reads, to achieve their Reading Challenge award.
