Design Technology

During their time at Hunter’s Bar Infant School, the children are offered a range of opportunities to develop their key skills, knowledge and understanding of Design and Technology.

From Reception onwards, children design and make using a wide range of tools, materials and techniques, including woodwork. We value the evaluative element of Design and technology, and encourage children to critically evaluate and improve their products as they create.

Their skills progress and are built upon each year as they produce such things as vehicles, pop up cards, bridges, woodwork boats, moving models, pizzas and a healthy soup.

Food technology such as baking and cookery is an element of design and technology. The school has a dedicated children’s kitchen, where children have regular opportunities in which to make use of its facilities – including to prepare and cook the fruit and vegetables grown in the school’s own garden.
