Coronavirus Update #4
Following the government announcement last night that all schools are to close from end of day on Friday 20th March, we are quickly putting plans into place for the next phase of this Coronavirus journey.
We have measures in place to ensure that pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium will receive free cold lunches to take away. Further information as to how to collect these will be given as soon as we know. All infant children have free school meals currently, but this doesn’t mean that they are entitled to Pupil Premium. If you are unsure about this, please contact school for further clarification.
We know that the current situation is affecting many of our families with regard to work and finance. We would strongly urge you to make an application for Pupil Premium if your circumstances have changed following the link below: https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/schools-childcare/school-meals.html
Childcare supervision will be available in school hubs from Monday 23rd March onwards, for parents who fall into the key worker group or vulnerable children allocated to a social worker or who have an EHCP. We do not yet know what the identified key worker groups are but will alert you as soon as the list is made available.
We need you to contact school via email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible stating:
- Your child’s name and class
- Your occupation/s and place of work
- If you have access to any other childcare within your household
This will support in making plans for the level of service to provide in the coming weeks.
Yesterday we sent out home learning resources and details of how to access work set on the class blog page. If you were not able to collect your child’s pack, they will remain in school for you to collect at a later stage. You are also welcome to nominate another parent to collect the pack on your behalf. We have been reassuring children about the home learning and the fact that they will not be coming to school to learn here in the near future.
We can confirm that the foodbank collection is still going ahead tomorrow. The collection boxes will be outside near to the Friendship Bench.
Staying in Touch
All of our usual channels of communication will be open throughout this period. We have created some new year-group email addresses, should you have any queries about learning or need to contact teaching staff. They are:
Year 1: email@example.com
Year 2: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you once again for your amazing support and we will keep you up to date with important information as soon as we have it. It feels a little strange today as we prepare to close school. It certainly is a time to look after one another and we’re good at that.
Please note: The LEA has requested that ALL parents send their occupation details to school, via email.
